Kolkata: The people of West Bengal are culturally very rich and the Centre is ready to provide all possible help for the development of the state, said Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Shailja. 

Hailing Kolkata as a cultural city, she said that the Centre will fully help to make it cultural capital of the country.

“There are special plans for the poor and minorities,” she added while addressing people after meeting with Chief  Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday here.

“We discussed about the development of West Bengal in meeting with the CM. The Centre has prepared Rajiv Gandhi Housing Plan which can help out poor and minorities in the state,” said Shailja.

Mamata Banerjee said, “We are celebrating Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th anniversary. On this occasion we have decided to develop international cultural centers at London and other places. In order to implement this project, we have demanded Rs 1000 crore from the Centre and we are going to make a committee in this regard.”
