"We are looking for a inter-state council meeting to be headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh with all Chief Ministers in the north eastern states to take certain strategic decisions (on key issues pertaining to security)," Rijiju told reporters.

He said the decision to convene the meeting was held recently during the joint intelligence committee meeting which he chaired, where various intelligence agencies shared strategic information key to security.

In the inter-state council, the home ministry will take strategic decisions on several issues including peace talks which have been dragged for years with certain outfits, a senior home ministry official said.

Earlier, the Union Minister chaired a review meeting with Central armed forces and the state government at the Secretariat after calling on Governor K K Paul at the Raj Bhavan.

In the morning, Rijiju visited a border outpost of Border Security Force at Dawki, in West Jaintia Hills District to inspect and review the security along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border.
