New Delhi: Prior to the start of the nation-wide survey of BPL families, the Centre has called for a meeting of Chief Secretaries of all the states on May 31 in New Delhi to discuss the procedure and problems likely to be faced during the survey.

Few of provisions of the survey to be conducted between June and December will be discussed in the meeting organised by the Rural Development Ministry.

Along with the BPL survey, a caste-based census will also be conducted. With the help of the financial aid provided by the Union Government, the employees of the state governments will carry out the survey and census work. The entire project will be carried out under the direct supervision of Chief Secretaries.

For this purpose, the training programme for the officials has already been completed.
