New Delhi: In order to boost medical facility in Bihar, the Union Health Ministry has decided to provide super specialty facility at two medical colleges and hospital under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

The two colleges include Darbhanga Medical College and Srikrishna Medical College, Muzaffarpur.

In a letter to former Rural Development Minister and Vaishali MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad informed that a direction has been given to Bihar government to submit project report in this regard.

After getting the report, a central team will visit the state to analyze the lack of facility and to assess their need at the medical colleges.

Azad added that since an All India Institute of Medical Sciences is being set up at Patna, the proposal of upgrading Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in not under consideration.
