New Delhi: In what appears to be the Centre-state standoff over the appointment of an IPS officer by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday demanded an apology from the Home Ministry over the issue.

The Goa CM rejected the appointment of IPS officers by the Union Home Ministry in the state. Parrikar said the state government was consulted while appointing the officers.

Reacting to the standoff, the Bharatiya Janata Party said the autonomy of state should be maintained.
