Jharkhand: As many as 12 children and 17 adults succumbed to Cerebral Malaria in Jharkhand from November 10-12 setting the alarm bells ringing for the state government. Palamo is the worst affected district under which Naudiha and Chhatrapur blocks have reported highest number of deaths so far. More than 300 people in these blocks are battling for their life.

 Up to now 20 Cerebral Malaria deaths from Naudiha and17 from Chhatarpur block have been reported. Caught in the deadly grip of the disease, the total death toll in Palamo has reached to 37.
According to Dr Gopal Srivastava, a Civil Surgeon in Palamo, Cerebral Malaria has spread its tentacle in Naudiha and Chhatarpur block. A team of doctors has been sent to the affected areas for the collection of blood samples. Medicines are also being supplied in the region.


However, locals complained that those suffering from cerebral malaria are unable to recuperate due to lack of medicines in government hospitals.
Meanwhile, the officials of district health department and malaria department are regularly visiting the affected villages for the last two days.
