Jammu: In a strong opposition to the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in which he had claimed that any pilgrim visiting Amarnath could not be granted permission before June 29, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) claimed that the religious trip will commence from June 14.

Lashing out the CM and Amarnath Shrine Board, the VHP said Shri Baba Amarnath Yatri Nyas (BAYN) will hold no discussion with the government and the first group for the religious trip will start the voyage on June 14.

Talking to reporters in Jammu on Friday, VHP spokesperson said the CM has hurt the sentiments of Hindu by declaring he would not allow the pilgrimage before June 29. He said thousands of devotees from the various parts of the country will reach Jammu on June 14.

BAYN representatives were also present in the press meet. Jain said the Amarnath Shrine Board has no authority to fix the time limit of the Yatra. “The state government and Board should only provide the facility to the devotees,” he added.

While chief spokesman of State BJP, Dr. Jitendra Singh blamed Governor NN Vohra for politicizing the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. He said Board was constituted as an autonomous body but Vohra has politicized it under the pressure from the state government.
