Chandigarh: In an effort to strengthen the bond of communal harmony and for the welfare of minority community, the Chandigarh administration is all set to implement a 15-point programme.

Under the programme, the Chandigarh Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Minorities Financial & Development Corporation have approved loans for 10 people belonging to minority communities.

In the last fiscal, the loans were passed for 39 people and a total of 201 applicants were benefited. This year 66 applicants have received benefits under the programme.

During the current fiscal, people from 325 different trends were trained and this year the Chandigarh government has launched different programmes like pre-metric, post-metric programmes.

In the financial year 2009-2010, as many as 1528 minority community students under pre-metric scholarship scheme were given the financial assistance.

During 2010-11, 75 students under post-metric and 17 students on the merit basis were awarded the scholarship.
The municipal corporation has also given loan to 31 people from the minority community.
