During a review meeting at the Secretariat, he gave examples of countries like Japan which has transmission and distribution (T&D) losses of upto only 4.62 percent, while Canada has a 5.45 percent loss, China has 5.72 percent loss and the USA has a six percent loss.
He told department officials to take a cue from these countries and added that the focus should not only be on consumption but also on supplying quality power to consumers.
Naidu suggested setting up call and monitoring centres to track power consumption, distribution, and T&D losses.
He said that this data should be collected at a control room and a report on the same should be submitted to him.
The Chief Minister asked the energy department to set a few parameters to measure T&D losses from generation centres (APGenco) to end users.
He said that the state should be competing with China and the USA in energy production, transmission, and distribution.
"Providing quality power will usher in investments and this will in turn, create more jobs for the youth," he said.
Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Ayyanna Patrudu, Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao, Principal Secretaries Ajay Jain and Satish Chandra and Secretary to the CM, Sai Prasad, were among those present at the meeting.
