The exams for the Uttar Pradesh Board of Intermediate (12th) were held between March 12th and April 6th. Around 31,27,066 students had appeared for the  UP Board’s Intermediate examination 2014.

Presently, there are around 9,121 secondary schools recognized by the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education.

Last Year the Class 12th state board exams in Uttar Pradesh 2013 was flagged off on 12 March and finished on 06 April 2013 and the results of which were declared on 5 June 2013. Of the total 26 lakh students who appeared in Class 12th board exams in UP last year, 92.68 percent passed the exams, and with a pass percentage of 96.32%, girls outshined the boys in the state. Only 89.79% of the total boys appeared in the exam were passed.

The board’s headquarter is located in Allahabad and its four regional offices are located in Meerut, Varanasi, Bareilly and Allahabad.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education was the first to adopt the 10+2 system.
Besides, preparing syllabus for students from Class I to Class XII, for schools affiliated with it, the UP Board is responsible to conduct three board examinations in the state viz. the Middle School Exam for Class VII, the High School Exam for Class X and the Intermediate Exam for Class XII, which is a school-leaving examination.
The Board conducted its first public examination in 1923 and is the largest examining body in the world.
