New Delhi: Here’s a piece of good news for the fliers who use metro for reaching the IGI airport. The check-in facility would start at two metro stations of the high-speed Airport Metro Express line from Friday.

The Metro service started on this line on February 23. Since then, plan was afoot to start the check-in facility at the stations.

Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited, a company which operates this line, had announced in the last week of May for starting the check-in service at New Delhi Railway Station and Shivaji Stadium Metro stations on the Airport Metro corridor from June 1. However, it was delayed due to some problems.

Following the meeting of Civil Aviation Ministry, representative of private airlines, senior officials of Airport Metro Line and authorities of CISF, which was held on Tuesday, the company made an official announcement of starting the check-in facility from June 10.

Initially, the New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations will have six check-in counters each with Air India, Kingfisher and Jet Airways setting up two counters for domestic fliers. Following security reasons, the check-in facility has not started for the International flights.

The passengers can check-in their bags minimum 2 hours and maximum 6 hours prior to their flight time.
