New Delhi: In a measure to help international flyers from waiting in long queues at the Indira Gandhi International airport, Airport Metro Express line will make check-in facility available at its New Delhi and Shivaji stadium stations from February 23.

This will allow flyers to check in their baggage before boarding the Airport Express line to reach Terminal 3 of the IGI Airport. Passengers will also be given their boarding passes at the Metro station.

In the beginning check-in facility will  be only available for internationals flights of Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher. Passengers of other airlines will also be able to use this facility soon.

Fliers will have to reach New Delhi and Shivaji stadium stations for check-in a minimum of two and-a-half hours prior to their flight schedule and they can collect their boarding passes eight hours before their flight timings also.

Officials of Airport Authority will assist Metro officials in this regard.

Air India Spokesman Praveen Bhatnagar said, “ At first these facilities will be available for passengers travelling to Gulf countries which includes Muscut, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.”

The 23km high-speed corridor that allows passengers to reach IGI from Connaught Place in around 20 minutes currently has a ridership of 20,000 commuters.
