Bhopal: More often cases of human exploitation in Bundelkhand region have shocked the nation, but none can be worse than the one recently reported in Chhatarpur area of Madhya Pradesh. In yet another sordid act of inhumanity, a Sub-Engineer of Irrigation Department in Chhatarpur used daily wage workers instead of an ox to plough the field.

The official was suspended and served with notice soon after the incidence was taken into cognizance by the Department.

The In-charge of Bariyapur canal project in Chhatarpur, RP Sharma, hired three daily workers, to plough the barren land behind his resident. As alleged by the labours, the Sub-Engineer exploited them to plough the field many times by threatening to deduct their wages. Therefore they were forced to work furrow the land as per the orders.

Taking action against Sharma, the Executive Engineer of the project, SK Srivastava suspended him and served notice demanding explanation for the act.
