“It won’t be right for me to become mediator in the abduction issue. I appeal to the Maoists to release the IAS officer unconditionally,”said Bhushan while talking to reporters here on Tuesday.

He added, "I agree with some of their demands but it is wrong to kidnap a civilian officer and using him as a bargain tool."

Sukma district collector Alex Paul Menon was kidnapped on April 22 by Naxals in Chhattisgarh. On Tuesday, they named three mediators for the safe release of the collector.

They named Prashant Bhushan, BD Sharma and Manish Kunjam as mediators for the talks.
