New Delhi: A Chief Medical Officer of a government hospital in national capital has been arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year old female patient by taking her into a clinic. The CMO took the girl on the pretext of conducting an ultrasound scanning, the police said on Wednesday.

The police added that Narendra Singh, CMO of Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital suggested the patient to undergo an ultrasound examination and then took her to a clinic on Tuesday.

The CMO allegedly raped the patient after offering her a soft drink mixed with sedatives. She later approached the police and underwent a medical examination which confirmed the rape.

Narendra Singh was arrested on Wednesday night from Seelampur area of North-East Delhi.
