New Delhi, Jan 21 (Agencies): China has rejected spying charges against three Chinese nationals who were arrested on the Indo-Nepal border on Monday and have asked the Ministry of External Affairs in India for an early release of the trio.

Chinese embassy official has also asked the MEA to provide better living conditions in the jail till they are released. The arrested nationals are currently in judicial custody.

The trio including a woman was caught taking photographs of the Sashastra Seema Bal paramilitary force at a checkpost on the Indo-Nepal border. The three claimed they had arrived in a vehicle till the border, parked it there and then entered Indian territory on foot.

The Chinese government has however denied all these charges. They said that the trio were tourists not spies. The Chinese foreign ministry has rejected spying charges against Chinese nationals saying they have entered India "by mistake."
