New Delhi: Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan on Tuesday handed over the cheque of USD 1 million to Vice-Chancellor designate of the University Gopa Sabharwal for construction of a library in Nalanda International University (NIU) to highlight the Chinese art and architecture.

Sabharwal said, “The new logo of the instituten represents interconnectivity and harmony between man and nature. The new logo will spread the message that everything is linked with each other.”

“The fund will be used for the construction of a library which will help in strengthening the relations between the two nations. China has fulfilled the commitment made by Premier Wen Jiabao during his Nalanda visit on January 21,” informed Sabharwal.

Exchange of culture through Nalanda International University has remained a major project for China.

The academic session and other curricular in the varsity will begin from 2012, added the VC.
