Beijing: Bitterly opposing Dalai Lama's proposed visit to Britain later this year, China on Wednesday lashed at the Tibetan spiritual leader accusing him of carrying out separatist activities under the "cloak" of religion.
"Dalai has never been a simple religious figure. He is head of an organised political block under the cloak of religion.”
"He is a political exile who has now been engaged in anti-China separatist activities", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said.
Asked about reports of Dalai Lama's non-political visit to Britain in June this year, he said "the Chinese government opposes Dalai's international activities in any name under any capacity and opposes any country make any contact with him in any form and in any name".
