The delegation from the CICIR will not only study the Gujarat model of development but also look into the possibilities of its replication at the national level by Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.

The three-member delegation led by Wang Shida from Institute of South & Southeast Asian & Oceanic Studies is on a three-day visit to Gujarat.

The other members of the delegation are Song Qingrun, executive unit chief of Bay of Bengal Rim Unit, and former Indian envoy Kishan Rana and professor Emeritus of Diplo Foundation.

“The purpose of visit is to have a better understanding of the Gujarat model and we are looking forward to improved bilateral ties between India and China,” said Shida at an interactive session with local industry and businesses leaders at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) house.

Interestingly, the visit comes days ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s scheduled trip to India.
