London: ICC match referee and England pace spearhead Stuart Broad's father Chris will replace legendary all-rounder Ian Botham as president of the Professional Cricketers' Association next month.

Test match referee Broad also played for Gloucestershire and made 25 Tests appearances and averaged nearly 40.

The 53-year-old Broad, a former England Test player, will take up his new role next month for a fixed term of two years, a newspaper reported.

The 55-year-old Botham, one of the finest all-rounders of all time, informed the PCA about his decision to step down, saying his TV commitments and charity work will leave him no time to do justice to his job.
