Lucknow: The murder of a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in Uttar Pradesh has taken a serious turn, as two ministers from Mayawati Government on Thursday tendered their resignations in this connection.

Taking moral responsibilities, both Welfare Minister Babu Sing Kushwaha and Medical Health Minister Anant Kumar Mishra resigned from the state Cabinet after the murder of CMO Dr BP Singh. Kushwaha was also looking after the Ministry of Mines, Cooperatives, Infrastructure Development, Institutional Finance; and Stamp and Court Fee Department.

The Chief Minister, Mayawati sent the resignations of both the Ministers to the Governor B L Joshi who accepted them. Principal Secretary, Pradeep Shukla, has been removed from the Family Welfare Department.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Lucknow, AK Shukla, was also removed. Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department have been merged. Now once again CMO will be the nodal officer of both the departments, according to sources.

The Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh in a press brief accepted the massive financial irregularities in both the departments. Vinod Kumar Arya’s murder is allegedly linked with this. He said the investigation of the murder is going on and the culprits will soon be arrested.
