New Delhi: Miffed at the delay in the development of the coal blocks, the Coal Ministry issued a warning to Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation for Patratu and Robodih coal blocks, threatening to cancel the allocations of blocks.

The Ministry also slammed Jharkhand State Electricity Board and Bihar State Mineral Development Corporation for delays in the progress of Urma Paharitola block.

Apart from this, the Ministry warned to cancel the allocation of Rampia coal block which is being jointly developed by the world’s largest steel maker ArcelorMittal, Reliance Energy, Hyderabad-based Lanco Group, GMR Energy, Navbharat Power and Vedanta subsidiary Sterlite Energy.

The Ministry issued the letters to the six firms, directing to develop the coal block immediately.

The slow production of coal mines in comparison to high demand has become the major issue for the Coal Ministry.

Therefore, the government has started taking necessary action against the firms which have not commenced the production of coals even after the allocation of blocks.
