Sharma said three missing personnel of the coast guard might be trapped inside the aircraft. He said the search teams were facing difficulties in receiving signals from the missing aircraft due to the ocean's depth.

Sharma said he has convinced the family members of India's capabilities to undertake the operation on its own.

National Institute of Ocean Technology here has been approached for oceanographic analysis of the area and feasibility of deploying their research vessel 'Sagar Nidhi' for augmenting the sub-surface search.

Also, a team from Omcar Foundation, Thanjavur, has embarked onboard 'ICGS Sarang' for undertaking underwater photography and acoustic survey. The Indian coast guard aircraft CG-791 went missing near the coast of Tamil Nadu, off the coast of Chennai on June 8.
