Chandigarh: Cold conditions on Saturday prevailed in Punjab and Haryana as mercury remained a few notches below normal in both the states.
Amritsar was the coldest place in the region as it recorded a minimum at 3.2 degrees Celsius, down by two notches below normal, the MeT office said on Saturday.
Among other places in Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala had a low of 6 degrees Celsius and 6.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
UT Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, experienced cold at 5.5 degrees Celsius, down by one degree below normal.
In Haryana, Narnaul shivered at 3.5 degrees Celsius, dipping by three notches below normal.
Ambala, Hisar and Bhiwani recorded minimum at 6.8 degrees Celsius, 5.4 degrees Celsius and 5.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
The MeT in its forecast said weather will mainly remain dry while ground frost may occur at isolated places during next two nights in Punjab and Haryana.
