Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, braved cold weather at 6.8 degrees Celsius, it stated. In Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala recorded a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius and 5.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

While in Haryana, the minimum temperature in Hisar and Karnal settled at 4.5 degrees Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal. Ambala recorded a low of 7.5 degrees Celsius while in Narnaul the minimum temperature was 4.7 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT report stated.
