New Delhi, Jan 08 (Agencies): In view of the severe cold conditions in the capital, the Delhi Government, on Saturday, extended the holidays in city schools till January 13, 2011.

In effect, the schools will be closed till January 14, 2011 which is a holiday for the 'Lohri' festival.

"The Government has issued an order extending the holidays till January 13, 2011 because of the cold wave. All schools have to follow it," an official said.

Earlier on January 5, Delhi Government had ordered closure of all Government and private schools in the capital till January 10 in view of the cold conditions.

The cold wave has persisted throughout this week and the maximum temperatures too have slid below 15 degrees Celsius on several days. The MCD has also extended the winter holidays in its primary schools till January 13.
