Mumbai: Popular stand-up comedian and winner of reality shows, Kapil Sharma, feels that comedy is serious business and it is not easy to make people laugh. The 32-year-old is best known for his straight-faced but hard-hitting comic acts.

"It’s difficult to make people laugh... It is not at all an easy job. We have to come up with innovative yet entertaining ideas, which to some extent is a challenge," Kapil said. "Comedy has evolved with time. Different elements are added either through costumes, dialogues or body language. Like in the film 'Paa' if the role of Amitabh Bachchan wouldn't have a funny side to it, then it would have become boring," he said.

Now the actor-host is entertaining the audience with a show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil'. Apart from Kapil, there are other comic actors in the show, who will be playing cameos as various unconventional characters throughout the 13-part series.

One of the highlights of the show is Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is playing Kapil's friend and confidante. He is seen giving Kapil solutions to his problems. Besides, there is a fun interactive session with celebrity guests.

"I don't think this show is like a risk. Rather it is very much entertaining. Also, there will be live audience so we will get the response immediately. We are sure audience will like it," Kapil said.

The show so far had Dharamendra and will have Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi in coming episodes, making guest appearances.

"I am always scared before going on stage, this is the fear which makes me do well," Kapil said.

One thing that Kapil will ensure is that there won't be any double meaning jokes. "We will ensure we won't have double meaning jokes. It is a family show," he said. Kapil is not only performing but also co-producing the show under K9 Productions.

He is also currently seen co-hosting dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" with anchor Manish Paul. Asked if managing "Jhalak..." with his new production will be a problem, Kapil said: "I am not having any problem balancing both the shows. The channel is supporting me a lot and both the shows belong to the same channel."

Meanwhile, Kapil will also start working on a Punjabi movie soon."My focus is on this show ('Comedy Nights With Kapil') till September. Then I have a Punjabi film. I don't plan much," he said.
