New Delhi: The government is mulling to launch single helpline number to address all kinds of issues concerning to an individual. Single helpline number is already operational in American and few European countries. Issues related to health, accidents, properties and natural disaster will be taken care of when grievances and complaints conveyed through the helpline number.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has come up with a proposal regarding single helpline number on Monday. TRAI has tried to incorporate every possible subject which can be addressed under single number based on emergency communication and response system.

Presently, there are separate helpline numbers to address different kinds of issues related to Police, Fire-brigade, Ambulance, Civil defence and disaster management. Now, the regulator is of the view that there should be single helpline number like 911 in America and 112 in Europe to address all issues concerning to an individual.

However, the TRAI has also mentioned the possible challenges that are to be faced while implementing single helpline number. TRAI has also invited suggestions regarding new helpline number. TRAI has put up proposal paper on its website. People can put in their suggestion on the website till April 5.
