Thiruvananthapuram: Conditions are favourable for the onset of the South West monsoon over Kerala in the next 48 hours, according to the IMD station here.

Rain occurred at a few places in Kerala and Isolated places in lakshadweep. The chief amounts of rainfall reported in cm are: Enamakkal,Vadakara 3 each.Kottayam,Chalakudy, Irinjalakuda 2 each.CIAL Kochi,Piravom,Kodungallur 1 each.

Maximum temperature was above normal in Kozhikode and Piravom dist.Above normal in Ernakulam, Kannur, Kollam, Kottayam dist and changed little in the remaining dist.

Kozhikode & Palakkad reported the maximum highest temperature of 35 degree culsius.

Forecast valid until of morning of 5th June. Rain/tender shower will occur at a few places in Kerala & Lakshadweep.

Fisherman Warning: Strong onshore winds from westernly direction speed occasionally reaching 45-55 KMPH is likely along and off Kerala cost and over Lakshadweep area during the next 24 hours.

The northern limit of monsoon (nlm) continues to pass through Latitude 5.0 degree north/Longitudes 70 degrees east, Latitude 5 degree north/longitude 75 degree east, latitude 7.0 degree north/longitude 80.0 degree east (Colombo, Sri Lanka). latitude 10.0 degree north/longitude 86.0 degree east, latitude 14.0 degree north/longitude 91.0 degree east and latitude 16.0 degree north/longitude 96.0 degree east.

Conditions are favourbale for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of southeast Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maldives-Comorian areas and southwest Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.

Also conditions are becoming favourble for the onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala during the subsequent 48 hours.

The trough in western lies from Assam and Meghalaya to North Bay of Bengal now extends from Assam and Meghalaya to Arabian coast between 1.5 and 3.1 kms a.s.l.

The western disturbance as an upper air cyclonic circulation over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourood has moved away northeastwards.

A fresh western disturbance as an upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to mid troposphere levels lies over northest Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan system would move estnortheastwards.

The cyclonic circulation one over Orissa and neighbourhood and other over Assam and Meghalaya and neighbourhood have become less marked.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, heat wave conditions prevailed in Orissa, Uttarakhand,  and Punjab and in some parts of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, west Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and of Tamil Nadu and in remaining parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

On Saturday, the highest maximum temperature of 47.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Allahabad (east Uttar Pradesh) in the country.
