Kolkata, Jan 10 (Agencies): Seeking to strengthen their alliance prior to the Assembly polls in the state, the West Bengal Congress on Monday favoured launching joint movements against the ruling Left Front government.

"Both the parties must join hands and organize programmes and movements to resist CPI(M) misdeeds," WBPCC President Manas Bhunia said in a letter to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, citing the spurt in political violence in the state.

"Needless to say, our movement will definitely convey a strong signal of our unity and strong determination to oust the Left Front from power in the minds of the people of West Bengal," the letter said.

Bhunia said, "Since we are going to face Assembly elections very soon, it is natural that Congress and Trinamool Congress work together to achieve our common objective."

The WPCC chief expressed hope that Trinamool Congress would respond positively to their appeal in joining hands against CPI(M).
