New Delhi: The Congress managers are finding it difficult to implement party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s formula for early announcement of Lok Sabha candidates. Fearing infighting in the party, several probable candidates are not in favour of releasing the list in advance.

One of the Congress strategists said, “The party is facing problems in implementing Rahul’s decision of announcing the names of candidates.” Most of the state leaders and party candidates are of view that the move may boomerang by creation of yet another faction in the party.

Sources said that the party will try to implement the formula in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar where it has witnessed erosion of votes. The party strategists want to give more time to candidates in these states to create an impact on the electorate.

Currently, the party is facing a similar situation in Karnataka where it has not released all the lists of candidates for Assembly polls due to political bickering. However, it has released the list for 177 Assembly constituencies out of 224.

Meanwhile, the party leaders apprised Rahul Gandhi of the difficulty being faced in adopting the formula for early announcement of Lok Sabha candidates upon which the Congress Vice-President reportedly expressed his disagreement.
