New Delhi: The Congress party seems to be divided a house over its Government decision to arrest the 74-year-old Gandhian Anna Hazare.

While deliberations are on within the party as to whether the governmnet erred in its decision, some of the leaders have come out in open with their observation that it was a mistake to arrest Hazare.

“It was a mistake to arrest Hazare. The Government realized its mistake and rectified it by releasing him,” said Sandeep Dikshit, Congress MP and son of Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit.

In addition to Dikshit, Union Minister of state for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia and Rajya Sabha MP Abhisek Manu Singhvi has also criticized the manner in which Anna was arrested.

It is learnt that the Junior Dikshit raised the issue after getting permission from the party high command. However, he held the Delhi police responsible for the crisis.

Now the Congress is in favour of resuming talks with Team Anna. But the party is in catch-22 situation whether to initiate the talks or to wait for the proposal coming from the Team Anna.

Sources said the senior leaders have taken the issue before party general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmad Patel.

However the senior Ministers in the government are not in a mood to give an adverse statement in this regard.
