Bhopal: Launching a scathing attack on the Bhartiya Janata Party led Madhya Pradesh government, the Opposition Congress accused the government of encouraging the incidents of illegal mining through its negligent attitude on the serious issue.

“After the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government came to power, the rate of illegal mining scam is on rise in the state. So far it has claimed a loss of Rs 10 lakh crores,” alleged the Congress.

Demanding a CBI probe, the party said that the accusations will be found correct in the investigations and along with the Chief Minister several BJP leaders will have to face imprisonment.

“The massive illegal mining reported in Madhya Pradesh have even left Karanataka far behind,” said Congress media coordinator Manak Agrawal in a press conference at the party office here on Sunday.

He further said that the state government had allotted the mining lands without following the rules and regulations. “Without the participation of BJP leaders this would have never been possible,” he alleged.

“Around 60-70 percent of mines have been allotted to the companies in West Bengal. Adding to the wows, the BJP government has so far issued permit for allotment of around one lakh nine thousand square kilometer of mines land to 93 companies belonging to the mines racket”, he added.
