Dehradun: The BJP’s move to project Uttarakhand Chief Minister BC Khanduri in TV and print advertisements as a part of their electoral campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections has irked the Congress.

The Congress has complained to the Election Commission that the BJP is using Khandhuri, who himself is a candidate, for their campaigning purposes. Also, the expense on the advertisements should be listed on their poll expenses.

Chief Electoral Officer Radha Raturi said, “The Congress has complained about the advertisement featuring Khandhuri. Also, the party has said that the saffron brigade has used more than Rs 50 lakh on the ad which should be listed in their poll expenses.”

According to the Congress, this is a serious violation of the Model code of conduct. The matter has however been forwarded to the EC by the Chief Electoral Officer Radha Raturi.
