New Delhi: Congress on Friday attacked the opposition led by BJP accusing them of playing a "destructive" role by repeatedly disrupting Parliament and affecting its integrity and said time has come for moving a privilege motion against the entire opposition as a class for such actions.

"Time has come for any member of the House, who is prevented from raising a question or prevented from moving in this manner, to move a privilege motion against the entire opposition as a class. I think the time has come that we need to look into it," Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily said.

Peeved at the role played by the opposition in blocking Parliamentary proceedings, Moily said "I think the entire country will have to seriously look into this kind of behaviour of the opposition, which has become not creative but destructive."

He said "This has to be condemned by everybody who is interested in the parliamentary democracy of this country".

"The opposition has a role to play - not a destructive role. It should be a constructive role. By blocking Parliament as a whole, it is most undesirable. It will affect the integrity of the Parliamentary institution," he added.

He said "you should know that you are not attacking only the government but you are actually attacking the parliamentary institution itself. It has come to that stage now."

Moily, a former Law Minister, said the nation has always claimed that it had the best and also the largest parliamentary democracy in the world.

"But we cannot raise our head if this kind of a behavior goes on," said Moily.
