New Delhi: In order to blunt the edge of social activist Anna Hazare’ appeal, the Congress has asked its spokespersons and state leaders not to pass any personal comment on the anti corruption crusader. With Anna blowing the bugle against the Congress, the party bigwigs have started chalking out their strategies to counter the Gandhian.

Anna has appealed to the voters of the country not to vote for the Congress if it does not pass the Jan Lokpal Bill in the winter session of the Parliament. Sources said the Congress high command has directed its leaders to oppose the Anna’s appeal without passing any harsh comment on him.

Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law and Justice Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Wednesday sought suggestions from two former Chief Justices of India Venkatachalia and JS Verma in this regard. The Parliamentary Standing Committee is likely to play the major tool for Congress to prepare an effective Lokpal mechanism and deal with the issues raised by Anna.

Singhvi has already commented that the committee will give strong Lokpal.

Congress think tank believes that Anna has politicized the issue by mentioning the name of BJP national president in his letter. Presently all the eyes are on the Hisar by-election which is being held due to untimely death of MP and former Haryana CM Bhajan Lal.
