Ahmedabad: The commencement of the Congress party’s election campaign in the state coincided with the beginning of the Navratri festival. Treating Kutch as the epicentre of corruption in the state, the party decided to blow its bugle and launched the campaign from this region.

After offing at the Haji Pir mosque, Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela and Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Arjun Modhwadia addressed a rally on Wednesday.

Cashing on the moment, Vaghela accused the state government of selling farmers land to the industrialist at a very cheap rate. He said, “The government has not only sold maximum land of Kutch district to the entrepreneurs but has also failed to provide electricity to lakhs of farmers.”

Accusing the Narendra Modi government of overburdening the people of the state, Vagela said, “In the name of land registration fees, Modi is putting burden on the general public.”

Vaghela and Modvadia said if the Congress party is voted back to power, it would provide electricity to farmers in a more affordable rate as compared to what they are paying now.

Notably, after the appointment of the Lokayukta in the state, the Congress is leaving no stone unturned to protest against the government. From criticising Modi’s ‘sadbhavna’ fast by sitting in front of the Ghandhi ashram to blowing its bugle against the BJP-led state government, the party has done it all.
