New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday boycotted all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Raman Singh to discuss strategy on dealing with Naxalites in the wake of Maoist attack on Congress convoy last week.

The Congress has been offensive against the BJP government after the Saturday’s attack holding it responsible for the assault by red ultras. The party also slammed the state government for not providing adequate security to its leaders and not calling such a meeting prior to the beginning of the Congress Parivartan Yatra.

Raman Singh, facing strident criticism from Opposition parties, too has admitted that security lapses might have helped the ultras to carry out the audacious ambush.

The government has suspended Bastar Superintendent of Police Mayank Shrivastav and transferred Inspector General of Police Himanshu Gupta and district Collector P Anbalagan.
