New Delhi: The Congress core committee met on Tuesday to discuss the logjam in Parliament with the opposition refusing to let the Houses function till Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and Railway Minister PK Bansal resign.

The meeting was attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister AK Antony, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath and Ahmed Patel.

The opposition wants Manmohan Singh's resignation over irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks. While Bansal is embroiled in controversy after his nephew was arrested for taking bribe to ensure a choice posting for a railway official, Ashwani Kumar is under fire for vetting CBI report on coal allocation.
