Kolkata: A day after the Congress slammed the Trinamool Congress over ‘Indira Bhwan’ issue and called it BJP’s B-team, the Mamata-led party in its reply tore into the national party accusing it of speaking the language of CPI (M).

While speaking to reporters here, state Information Technology Minister Partha Chatterjee on Thursday said that the Congress along with the CPI (M) are jealous and terrified of Mamata’s development work thus, they are resorting to useless protest.

The way both the parties are attacking TMC over Indira Bhawan issue, an alliance between the two cannot be ruled out, the Minister added.

“Despite being a Minister in West Bengal government, few Congress party members are still protesting against TMC. This shows what kind of principles of alliance politics they are maintaining,” Chatterjee said.

The state Congress unit had launched a state-wide agitation against the government, blaming it for mismanagement of agriculture - the reason behind the plight of farmers and thus leading them to commit suicide.

“The state government has fixed a target of buying 20 lakh (2 million) metric tons of food grains but till now only 201,000 metric tons have been procured,” Bhuniya, the Irrigation minister, had said on Wednesday.

He said that out of the 1,018 rice mills in the state, 350 are closed and the public distribution system through 28,873 ration shops was not functioning properly.

Asked about Bhuniya's criticism of the state government, Chatterjee said, “It is not a good thing to criticize the same government and stay in the ministry. It is not a dignified way.”

“Congress never raised this issue but today it joined the chorus of CPI(M). There is a political conspiracy going on against TMC, we will strongly monitor it,” he told the mediapersons.
