Malda: Reminding the traditional political violence in West Bengal, the supporters of Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) got into a scuffle over the construction of road here on Tuesday. The incident left eight persons injured.

The incident took place at Vaishnavnagar area of Malda district when the Congress backed anti-social elements were allegedly obstructing the construction process.

The dispute persisted for the last few days over the road construction.

Former CPM legislator Vishwanath Ghos said, “The construction of road is need of the hour, but the Congress backed anti-social elements are halting the process.”

Refuting the allegation, the Congress leader blamed the CPM for the brawl.
