"If the country has to be kept united, Congress should be removed from the political map. Congress' departure will be the real tribute to Mahatma Gandhi," he said.

Modi charged the Congress of betraying the downtrodden sections, and challenged its claims of working for the welfare of the poor.

"Congress leaders just humiliate the poor and do nothing for them. They enjoy talking about the poor, but do not take interest in their uplift,” he said at BJP rallies in Sumerpur (Pali), Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, the home turf of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Friday was the last day of campaigning for the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly. Polling will be held on December 1 in 199 constituencies, while voting in Churu has been postponed to December 13 following death of BSP candidate.

Addressing a rally in Jaisalmer, Modi said the Congress has spread the poison of casteism and communalism.

“Had Congress done politics of development, youth of the country would not have to face unemployment,” he added.

Modi said the Congress will bite the dust, and asked people to vote for the BJP to rid the country of Congress.

In Sumerpur (Pali), Modi accused the Congress of working on divide and rule policy by creating rift among states over the issue of water distribution.

"There are confrontations among states over water sharing issue and this is all because of the Centre," he said.

Modi also blamed the Centre for not allocating adequate water to Rajasthan from Narmada river.

"It is the sin of Congress, which has made your life painful," he said.

Modi further said the Congress-led UPA Government worked for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in such a manner that both Seemandhra and Telangana regions are burning.

Asserting that the BJP wants to do politics of development, he said, "Congress does not want to do anything in the name of development. It is just tossing sops with an eye on election."

In Jodhpur, Modi accused the Congress of bad governance and appealed to people to support the BJP for a bright future.

In a lighter vein, he said, "pehle matdaan, fir jalpaan"(first vote, then refreshments).
