New Delhi: Terming party general secretary Digvijay Singh’s letter to Anna Hazare as unnecessary, Congress general secretary and head of media department, Janardan Dwivedi said on Wednesday that the move lacks merit as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself has written to the social activist.

Dwivedi said, “Writing letter to Anna is unnecessary after the Prime Minister himself had written to Anna over Lokpal Bill, electoral and land reforms.”

In his second letter to Anna Hazare, Digvijay Singh questioned the anti-graft crusader on why he was not attacking the BJP.

Providing as an evidence to establish the link between Anna Hazare’s movement and the RSS, he enclosed a letter from RSS general secretary Suresh Joshi to Anna, extending ‘full support’ in his battle against corruption.

In fact, the Congress does not want to politicize the issue as the entire episode is taking positive direction thanks to the PM’s letter to Anna and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s suggestion over the Lokpal.

The Centre is working on the formula suggested by Rahul in which he sought to grant the Lokapal a constitutional body status.
