Bhopal: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly Ajay Singh has constituted a five-member committee of Congress legislators to look into illegal mining issue in the home constituency of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

The leader of opposition has also written a letter to the Chief Minister demanding CBI inquiry into the various cases of illegal mining in the state.

Ajay Singh has expressed grave concern over illegal mining of sand by Shiva Corporation in 125 acres of mining area instead of the permissible 10 acres in Sehore district. He said, “The credibility of the no-confidence motion forwarded by the opposition can be gauged from the fact that a mining scam has been discovered in the home constituency of the Chief Minister.”

Accusing the Chief Minister in illegal mining case, Ajay Singh said, “Since Shiva Corporation has his protection, the officials are being pressurized to destroy the documents of the case.”

The honesty of the officials led to the discovery of the case and several such cases are present in the state, he said, adding “If Shivraj Singh Chauhan takes an initiative to order CBI enquiry in the case, his dream of creating Madhya Pradesh a ‘golden state’ will be fulfilled because the resources of the state will be saved from exploitation.”

Ajay Singh added that the five-member legislators’ committee headed by former minister Yadvendra Singh will submit its report on illegal mining in Sehore district within a week.
