Now there is a talk inside the Congress that Priyanka Vadra should be entrusted with bigger role for boosting the image of the party. Priyanka is otherwise conspicuous by her absence in active politics, but election comes and she goes on her toes for safeguarding the poll fortunes of her mother and brother. She would be seen campaigning for her mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi in Rae Bareli and Amethi respectively. The change in political dynamics in these high-profile seats is making the challenge quite difficult for her this time.

The recent remark of senior party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi regarding Priyanka is said to be an exercise in political kite-flying. He said that Rajiv Gandhi spoke to him about his daughter's political aptitude way back in 1990.

While promising to reveal details in due course, Dwivedi said, “As far as I know, Priyanka was interested in politics since her very young age. She had a profound interest in understanding over the depth of political language and developments. I have several facts regarding this and I don’t wish to discuss it in details now. All I'll say is that Rajiv Gandhi told me something about this in 1990. That's all for the moment.”

Dwivedi’s remark has sparked off buzz that Priyanka is being reportedly ‘groomed’ by the Congress to gear her up for the future discourse of the party.

Priyanka’s role in drawing up the party’s strategies in consonance with her brother Rahul Gandhi’s effort to boost the image of the party is also being considered as one of her pro-active roles in the nation’s oldest political organization.

Till yesterday, she was seen just as a member of Nehru-Gandhi family but with due course of time, her place and position has witnessed a considerable growth and today she is treated as one of the key members within party ranks.

Priyanka is also seen as political assistant to her brother Rahul and after the party was routed in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, she was seen alongside the Congress vice-president during an interaction session with the media.

For now, Priyanka is expected to draw the party’s poll strategies from the Congress war room and infuse a new lease of life to into the morale of party workers.
