Bhopal: Expressing concern over the pitiable condition of the Urdu language in Madhya Pradesh, leader of Opposition in the state assembly Ajay Singh said the Urdu Academy has transformed into a white elephant.

The Opposition leader said state government is not paying attention to the development and growth of Urdu language.

“The academy was constituted for the development of Urdu culture and language. But it remained on paper due to government’s dual policies and as a result has been reduced to a money spending body only,” added Singh.

It was assumed that the Urdu language will reach to new acme with renowned lyricist Basheer Badra taking charge of Chairman of the academy, remarked the Congress leader.

Whereas, against the expectations the academy has been dogged by irregularities and controversies.
