Jaipur: The ongoing dispute between Congress Mayor of Jaipur Jyoti Khandelwal and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nagar Nigam Rajesh Yadav has left the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government in a piquant position.

In wake of the strained relations with the CEO, Khandelwal along with the Congress Councilors staged a dharna against the local urban body official. The issue came as a major embarrassment for the Congress state government as it’s own Mayor held a protest against the party decision.

Quick to react on the issue, the Congress leaders agreed Khandelwal to call off the protest. It is worth mentioning that Khandelwal had ended the BJP dominance on the seat, and two years back she had registered a thumping victory. During her two year tenure, six CEOs have been transferred.

CM Ashok Gehlot had appointed Rajesh Yadav in a view to expedite the development works being carried out in the city. Sources say Yadav is extremely close to the CM.

Khadelwal said, “We have asked the state government to take action against the officials who are promoting corrupt practices in the municipal body.”
