New Delhi: In a major embarrassment for the Congress, Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda has described former BJP president Nitin Gadkari as ‘a tiger who don’t compromise’.

“He is like a tiger. He didn’t compromise with his honour. Ups and downs are a part politics. He has worked hard for the Vidarbha,” he reportedly said.

The RS MP also called Gadkari as ‘mere azeez mitr’ (my dearest friend).

On Wednesday, a clear-cut division in the top BJP echelon over Gadkari’s continuance as party chief had prompted incumbent party president to quit the post.

Notably, Gadkari’s business links are under scanner of I-T Department due to alleged funding to a company- Purti Power and Sugar Limited- promoted by him. On Tuesday, the I-T Department had raided shell companies’ nine locations in Mumbai.

Recently, the lawmaker had also shared dais with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad and praised the style of functioning of the BJP government. "Modi's commitment and dedication towards work bear resemblance to that of a tiger," he had said.

The Congress MP, who is also the editor-in-chief of a media house, was conferred with 'Tarun Kranti Award' by the Modi government at the event for his services rendered to the society through the media.
