New Delhi: The recent revelation by Robert Vadra of his political ambitions has put the Congress party in a fix.  During a motorcycle rally in Rae Bareli, Vadra, son-in-law to the Gandhi family made a statement expressing his willingness to join politics. Following which the Congress was seen giving explanations throughout the day.

Even after Priyanka Gandhi’s clarification in Rae Bareli  that her husband is content with his business, Vadra expressed a contrasting view in an interview to a TV channel saying, “Will enter politics if people want.”

Congress which is trying hard to consolidate its position in the Uttar Pradesh elections has suddenly gone on the backfoot after the comment made by Vadra.

The party also played down the issue regarding the electoral officer who stopped Vadra’s convoy during his campaigning in Amethi saying that it’s an administrative matter.

Reacting on Vadra’s political aspirations, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, “People have interpreted Vadra’s statement in a different context, I have nothing to add after Priyanka Gandhi's clarification on her husband’s political ambitions."

However by making contrasting statements in a TV interview Vadra has put the party in a tight spot. None of the members of the Gandhi family are available for comments.
