"Congress has ruled the country for over 55 years including the last ten years as the main constituent of United Progressive Alliance government. Still India is considered a poor country in the world economic map. The main reason for this is the wrong economic policies of Congress," claimed Rajnath, addressing a rally at Gandai in Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituency in Chhattisgarh.

BJP has fielded Chief Minister Raman Singh's son Abhishek Singh from Rajnandgaon.
Citing reports of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Rajnath alleged that UPA government was responsible for scams to the tune of Rs 5.50 lakh crore, and it had ‘virtually looted the country’.

“The scams led to inflation,” he said.

Singh said that the development in the BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh was remarkable. He lauded the state government's food security scheme which he said benefits 90 percent people of the state.
He also addressed rallies at Chirmiri (Korba) and Pamgarh (Janjgir-Champa).
